In Wes Anderson's latest film "Asteroid City," Bill Murray was originally cast to play the motel manager in the desert town where the film is set. However, just days before filming, Murray got ill while on a family trip. As a result, Steve Carell stepped in and took over the role. Despite not having a defined character in the film, Murray was determined to be a part of it. After recovering, he travelled to the set in Spain to support the cast and crew. Anderson and Murray came up with the character Jock Larkings, the head of the Larkings Corporation, an armaments-and-aeronautics company within the film's world. After completing "Asteroid City," they shot a short film featuring Jock Larkings. This short film serves as a bonus for fans of Anderson, Murray, and the Asteroid City universe, similar to Anderson's previous shorts that connect to his feature films. The experience of creating the short film was described as a spontaneous and peculiar endeavour, taking place just before the set was dismantled.
